Bailey died suddenly of cardiac arrest after an organized track and field event on May 12th, 2021. Bailey was an avid athlete who played football, basketball, and ran track. Bailey’s premature death motivated us to develop an organization to give knowledge to our community on how to respond to cardiac emergencies.
Bailey was diagnosed with Wolf Parkinson’s White Syndrome (WPW) at an early age. Our goal is to bring awareness to WPW as this syndrome can cause cardiac arrhythmias and sudden death.
Wolf Parkinson’s White Syndrome (WPW) is a condition in which an extra electrical pathway in the heart causes a rapid heartbeat. The extra electrical pathway in WPW appears between the heart’s upper and lower chambers which causes a rapid heartbeat. WPW syndrome is usually present at birth. Some common symptoms of WPW syndrome include palpitation, dizziness, shortness of breath, fatigue, anxiety, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and or fainting.
